2012 MSA "Blue Book"
Good news - the 2012 MSA Blue Book is now available on-line....
..... bad news - Still has fundamental errors.... Section K1. - still has incorrect cross references to K 1.5.1, 1.5.2, 1.5.3 & 1.5.4. These should be 1.6.1, 1.6.2, 1.6.3 & 1.6.4 Surely the technical committees should check all the references before publishing the document. This error has been in the blue book for several years - how come they did not spot it? It is not as if section K is not important

And another thing ....
From Section (S) 10.1.5 the requirement for "Sports Libre" roll over protection is specified as per K1. Section K 1. I presume that "Sports Libre" cars are covered by "other forms of Competition Vehicles (1.5.4)." Ignoring the fact that this is really K.1.6.4 "Other Considerations", then the definitions of the roll over structures in K 1.6.4 (a) and (b) are contradictory and are at odds with K.1.4.1 which defines minimum material specification. Did the MSA really mean to cover "Sports Libre" by K.1.6.4 "Other considerations" or should it be covered by something more sensible like K.1.6.1 Last edited by minitici; 01-12-11 at 09:33. BTW A few years ago I wondered how single seaters could legitimately run rear wings as wide as they did – but no wider. Then, Steve W. explained how the regs cascade down in some order of priority – over to you Steve

AFAIK, the rules for rear wings are fairly simple. No wider than the body, (which is why sports cars have wider wings than s/s) no higher than 90mm and no more than a certain distance rearwards of the rear axle.....
