2 stroke's

Wasn't a chap called Dr.Ehrlich envolved with 2 stroke engine development?

Didn't he make some F3 cars back in the 1970's?

I'd be interested to know where these 300hp 1500cc 2 stroke Mercury engines are that weigh 60kg. The ones on the Mercury website are 300kg. If they're 60kg, reliable and cheap enough, I'll have one - that's lighter than my GSXR1000 and >60% extra power...

Loads of powerful two strokes out there if you are prepared to trail blaze - eg. http://www.psipowerinc.com/34698.htm

Wow! My eyes are truly opened. I always wondered what humble pie tasted like. I'd heard about lightweight two-strokes, but couldn't find any examples. I'd be worried about reliability though, aside from the development hill to climb. Most importantly, of course, purple clashes with orange...

What did worry me was the comment on the web site ' We solved the crank problem in 2004'

and of course, cheap at $13kUS. Did any one see the V12 in the Donington museum, made out of 6 Ariel Arrow engines and coming in at 1500cc. Originally built as an F1 engine and was being developed in a Lotus 23b sports car. For some reason they were split, the Lotus finished up in the US of A but are now re-united. I would dearly love to hear this running. Oh and it only had 2 resonators.......

Come on Redturner, between us we can get a 2 stroke into the top 12 Runoffs rather than these boring 4 strokes!!

Here is a V4 1000cc producing 275hp at 10000 rpm weighing 44kg !!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.aaenperformance.com/V4_racing_engine.asp

Its minimum $20,000 plus the expansion chambers and he will only sell to Race Teams with a BIG budget.

If we use the Mercury V6 and use 2 of the cylinders to produce the Supercharging air pressure, we can get over 400hp from 1000cc !! Dr. E would be VERY pleased with our efforts.

Yes I did see the Ariel engine and drooled - come on lets have a try.

That is so neat. As to 'bump charging', nothing new there. DKW were doing it before the war with bikes and cars and even I owned a Lloyd 600 which used the same system. Usually called 2 and a bumper. In fact this engine used the down stroke to drive the oil pump.....
