Alan Styman? -Know Him?
Hi Guy's,
As some of you may/may not know I have an old F3 car that I am researching. It's the Ehrlich ES1 - ES6 (one and the same car), from 1972-76 The car was designed by Dr. J Ehrlich, and Alan Styman, hence the "E S" The Doc passed away, but I have managed to trace his son, Geoffrey to NZ. Alan would be a great chap to track down, and Geoffrey believe's that he moved to the Channel Islands sometime ago. So, with that location in mind, is there anyone here who can possible help me locate this fellow? Any help would be very much appreciated!! Best wishes, Gra. |

Hi Gra
I remember Dr.Ehrlich as a 2 stroke Geru ? helping the MZ company to win the World Championship? Therefore interested in which engine is in your F3. |

EMC
Hi Pete,
Yes, Dr. Ehrlich was into motorcycles in a big way, and EMC 250's were very successful, especially at the IOM TT. His greatest invention was this... http://www.docscipark.com.au/ee_tech.html Anyway, My F3 car started life with a 1600cc EMC/Lotus TC, then went 1850 Vegantune Twinky, then finally Toyota Novamotor. -Nothing exotic I'm afraid

I remember the Erlich cars in the early 1970s. There was a british fairly high-level single seater series for Formula Atlantic cars. I think that they used BDA engines.
One of the drivers was the late Geoff Friswell. Could the other have been Ian Flux, or was that later? I remember Geoff Friswell and his car being parked next to me in the Snetterton paddock in 1972 or 1973. Delightful fellow. I met him over 40 years later when he was riding in a veterans race at Sheffield Speedway. In 1972 or 1973, I remember his car as being dark green. Sorry that I can't be of more help. You could try contacting Ian Flux. |

Hi Steve, thanks for the reply.
You may be confusing the early 70's with the late 70's? After my car came the short lived RP3 Then came the RP4/5 series, which were higher spec. -There were 2 of these cars. Not heard of Geoff Friswell ! -So that's another name to add to the list! Ian Flux did indeed drive one of the RP5's, as did Mark Thatcher (yep, son of the PM!) If interested, the history date lines can be seen here... http://www.f3history.co.uk/Manufactu...ch/ehrlich.htm Again, thanks for the response! |

Erlich.
A friend of mine Keith Richards has quite a nice example of an Erlich F2 Atlantic single seater for sale at the moment, complete with 1600 BDM Cosworth. Very good chassis to drive, can be seen on race cars direct.

Hi Graham, I will check with a few of the stalwarts of the motor clubs over here for you but I did have a look through both Guernsey and Jersey telephone directories with no luck I'm afraid.
I will keep you posted. Cheers John.

Hi Mike, Yes, I have met Keith a couple of times when he came up to Shelsley with his car. -It's one of the 2 RP4/5's. (His may even be the RP3 updated, but I don't know enough about the later cars I'm afraid!?) The other RP5 is down in Kent, and still exists too. -Both are very different to my car!
Hi John, Many thanks for your kind efforts! -That's just the kind of help I was hoping for! I will keep my fingers crossed, but accept it may be a dead end. Thanks also for checking the local directories! -Very much appreciated. |

Hi Graham
Very interesting - I recon as a tribute to Dr.E, you should fit one of the Mercury V6 (power boat) 2 stroke engines, about 300hp from 1500cc and weighs 60kg !! |
