Just to inform members....Allan passed away at 1.30 today. Ian Scott.

That is terrible news. His books have been such a help with car set up and inspiration over my competing years.

Very sad news, he will be greatly missed in the paddock. He was an inspiration to us all.

What a dear and caring man he was! Anyone who knew Alan would surely agree that the sport has lost a great man! What knowledge has been lost? Condolences to his family and friends. |

I think that everyone involved in motorsport has at sometime had to rely on Alan's advice. A tragic loss indeed, sincerest condolences to his family.

It is certain that he was much more influential than a host of big names at the top end of motor sport, by encouraging people to get out there and do it. His legacy lives on in the host of small volume constructors and everyone who does their own work too.

A real loss
Sitting here with a tear in the eye, such a gifted engineer and a very human individual. A real innovator and a competitor to the end.
As someone who chatted with Allan at events and enjoyed his pithy contributions to the Harewood Competitors forums, I pass on my condolences to family and close friends. I am sure that as word reaches other members of Yorkshire BARC and Harewood Hillclimb their sentiments will be conveyed also. J |
