Found some interesting reading on Allan's impressive past - I didn't know that he was an 11 times world record holder.

He was a regular at the Elvington Speed Week back in the 70s and whenever they repeated the event in later years Allan invariably was there.

I understand that the funeral will take place on Wednesday and the family have asked for just relatives and close family friends to attend.

If this changes I will advise.

A great man lost to the world of motorsport. His books reside in the book collections of many engineers here at Brawn GP as Alan always wrote so you thoroughly understood the fundamentals, and they never change. Just everything around them becomes more refined and expensive!

Many condolences to his family and friends.

Allan Staniforth

I feel so saddened by the loss of Allanand I send heartfelt condolences to Trish, Claire and Darren from myself and Susie.
Allan was instrumental in my starting to hillclimb in the 1100 class and has always been an inspiration to me, and I suspect to all of us in the sport. I shall never forget the wonderful times in the 1100's with Allan with much post-competition lubrication with an endless supply of Martini !
His books, his advice, his help with set-ups and his wonderful sense of humour will never be forgotten.
I am sure Harewood will find a way to honour his memory too.

I understand that there may well be something special arranged for the July meeting.

Dave and I were so sad to hear of the loss of Allan. We have known him for many years and will miss his friendliness and help in the paddock (and I will miss my big hug and kiss). He always had time for everyone and no question was ever too small for him to find answer if he could. He was one of a kind and our sympathies go out to his family and friends.
