Another Blur book clarification please - mod prod brakes and relocating battery

Hi,

I've pored over the blur book and am really struggling to find mention of brake modifications in Mod Prod. Are they allowed?

Also can I relocate my battery to inside the car? There seems to be a fair amount of ex-race or rally cars in mod prod with this, but when I asked a friendly scrute about this for my current class Roadgoing Prod he pointed me to the blur book which makes no mention for there either.

Am I sadly right, then, in making the assumption that if there is no mention of it in mod prod you can uprate suspension, tyres and engine and not brakes?

Sorry for dredging up another query like this. Frankly it's beginning to annoy me and I just wish there was a spreadsheet with a list of mods versus classes that we all could refer to.

Thanks

Andy

I can't see there being any objections to modifying brakes in modprod. I have never seen a scrute checking brake calipers or disks.

Brakes are free in the roadgoing classes,1a/b/c , so anything other than carbon should be ok. Check the local regs for the championship you want to run in.

I run in mod prod, I have 300mm instead of 260mm discs up front, discs instead of drums on the rear, the battery in a sealed, vented to the outside, box inside the car and coilover suspension. Never any problems

Unfortunately I tend to run in the events I like the look of due to budget constraints and the local regs tend to strictly quote a reference for the relevant parts of the blue book and nothing else. Can you tell me where in the blue book it says brakes are free?

Thanks

off topic but btcc93 I was working at Edgbaston CC a little while ago and had reason to weigh in some scrap nearby. It was very cool just coming across your car parked in the street.

The only ref I can find to brakes is in the general section for sprints and hill climbs section 10.7.1 that basically just states that the brakes must on all 4 wheels and be able to stop the car.

If you went where I think you went you should have asked them where I lived and popped in for a chat

I'm also running the battery in a box in the boot and uprated calipers and discs in mod prod with no issues.

I don't wish to appear negative (particularly as Tin Tops are not my area) but would you not need to be sensitive to J 5.1 - As a general principle in all Technical Regulations, it is prohibited to carry out any tuning or modification
that is not specifically permitted. The fact that some modifications are mentioned as prohibited does not imply that others are allowed.
