Aston Martin at Le Mans in LMP1 bid
So Dave Richards/prodrive has got some money from somewhere.
Was tipped off to look for an announcement today. May secure some of the ex-Subaru team peoples jobs. Iranoff

Looks good: almost Group C in fact.
But without a diesel engine it won't win. I don't buy Autosport's assertion that the ACO are pegging back the diesels. Even as late as 2011, the proposed regs will still have LMP1 diesels at 8 cylinders of 3.7-litre capacity with twin turbos against petrol LMP1s of 8 cylinders and 3.4-litres max, but normally aspirated. Supposedly power will be pegged at 520 bhp for both, with weights at 900 kg, but there's no stipulation on torque. Still, I've always been a great fan of the underdog, so it's great to see AM back in sportscars. And unlike the Audi and Peugeot, the Aston will sound like a racing car..... |

Thanks for explaining the ACO regs, I agree that it doesn't sound like parity given the diesel technology developed by VAG and PSA.
I also love the underdoggery and of course our garagistes as underdogs in the 50's changed the racing world for ever so lets lend our support. Hope to hear some inside stuff tomorrow night and it may be that forum member and very rare poster Wheelspin is on the engine team. Fireblade and Floads have had the dubious pleasure of meeting him. Agreed. I was an avid fan of the last big effort for overall honours in 1989. In early-season 'side exhaust' guise, the AMR-1 Group C car could blow your eardrums out. Nice way to go deaf.

smaller restrictors for the diesels
it may not be as clear cut as you think for the diesels to win, as they have had their air intake restrictors size reduced therefore less grunt!!

You could always build in a knock to make it feel at home with the diesels
![]() As you and I know only too well, diesels need to be excess air engines. Remember the time our mate Duggy spent two days trying to get that engine going when it had a plastic bung stuck in the inlet? No air, no go. Iranoff
