Back to a question of tyres

I'm still in a bit of a quandry on what tyres to select for next season. My car is a Mondeo that has run in Modified production this year for a couple of events. I had a bit of a cash flow problem, bloody banks dropped the interest rates on my savings so hadn't got sufficient funds to get 1B's, so had to use the 1A's I already had. My budget is still tight but thoughts for next year seem to be either R888's or A048's, I have a choice of either 16" or 17" wheels available can anyone give me any advice please.

Sprints or Hills? The Khumo V70's also seem popular, but with heavier saloon cars tend to overheat and go off on longer sprints. R88's are also pretty good - especially if you can get the softer of the two compunds (G rather than GG).

Sprints predominantly, even in roadgoing spec Mondies can be quite hard on front tyres, Yoko and Toyo only do the tyre sizes I would use in medium, Khumo do hard or medium

If you are going to stay in mod prod I would go for slicks - very hard on the wallet but probably the cheapest way of gaining time pound for pound. Trouble is they are like drugs, once you have tried them you can't do without...

Not much choice as far as class is concerned too much done to the car to run in Road Modified, even tho the car is all street legal, but then again who knows what category the MSA changes for next year will put the car in!

No, the rule is "Suspension configuration must remain standard"
so that would be, same type, same basic layout - so as I understand it you would be Ok changing dampers / springs /anti roll bar grade etc - but probably not mountings and certainly not the basic type.

I always translated this to mean if it's McPherson strut then you can't change to double wishbone (for example). If you're picking up on the original points then surely the exact nature of the top mount (for example) is not specified.

i could be wrong...
