Bad to worse.

Oh dear oh dear. . . . . . . .

MSA

Proper kick in the teeth for all the Libre Saloon drivers out there.

What happened to their moniker of "Fairness to all"

Seems to me that if you don't own an Evoroo or a large Single seater you don't exist.
The whole debacle could have been sorted out with subtle tweeking of the Technical regs but by the looks of it it seems easier to get rid of the class altogether instead.

Does anyone know when the 2011 Blue Book is going on to the MSA website?

What's the problem?

1) These are proposals that will come in in 2012 if there are no objections.
2) Changes to 10.1.5 are to do with Roll-bar specification and should be easy to comply with if your car doesn't already do so - after all safety is a paramount concern and should be for the competitors as well as the governing body.
3) The changes for 14.1 actually allows Saloon Libre as they do not comply with the Category definitions of 10.10.1 to 10.10.5 or 10.10.7 or 14.1 (b) or 14.1 (c) and are therefore now covered!

that was my reading as well, this needs to be read along with the BB, just streamlines the libre regs.

Reason: To provide a Category which clearly
accounts for those vehicles which fail to
comply with the other defined Categories.
Implementation: 1st January 2012

(a) Any vehicle that does not comply with any
other category, as defined in 10.10.1 to
10.10.5 or 10.10.7. or 14.1(b) or (c

The old (g) used to allow anything to compete, they have now recognised that and Sports Libre will be the "catch all" it is intended to be, on;y safety regs are paramount.

Special saloons were already part of Libre so why remove the class completely.
Now they will be in an "anything goes" class.

Hardly fair on Joe Bloggs with his Pinto powered 5 linked Escort that he has raced for 25 years without issue.

That's the problem.

I know lets put ALL the single seaters in one class (unlimited cc) and see what reaction that gets.

Just out of interest how long have you been racing Saloons Steve??

Most people involved in motorsport run by the MSA will be aware that they are the authority who are responsible for bringing the rules up to date. If competitors feel that they are getting a raw deal it is up to them to lobby the committee members responsible for any particular branch of the sport and in our case, speed events. I dont know how many competitors this will effect, but they should get their heads together and present a proper case, and not be bandying there complaints about on a speed event forum. They have issued an email address for anyone concerned, so get on with it, a big petition might just help, but make sure you know what you want.....

a) the current Special Saloon definitions (Which ref to the Mod salloon regs) actually exclude Joe Bloggs in that car. The new rules allow it.

b) the definitions do not specify CLASSES (ie. capacity splits). Copyright SW
