beetle rear wing

run the beetle in sports libre and at the moment run a f3 lola rear wing, works well but want somthing a bit less in your face.
seen this on a very well developed german race car and was wondering what you thoughts are
1 is it legal as a spolier, blue book defernition must not come up not more than half the hieght of the rear window
2 how affective it would be.
this is the car i have seen

and this is mine at the moment

As your car is running in Sports Libre your rear aerofoil needs to be a maximum of 90cm from the ground.

ref: (S) 14.2.2
Maximum rear aerofoil 90cm from the ground height (sic)
(closed cars)

I do know of some sports libre closed cars which have a rear 'spoiler' as a continuation of the roof. It is possible that this is just classed as part of the bodywork as it is continuous with the rest of the body?

The difference between 'Aerofoil' and 'spoiler' is all important.

Libre can't have an aerodynamic wing higher than 90cm's, but we can have a spoiler as a continuation of the roof line.

looking at the 2 statements above, ie; not above half height of rear window, and not more than 90cm above ground. Then at the pic of your car, from the view shown I would say it complies with neither of the above.

it runs under special saloon in sports libre so it must meet those regs, the 90cm above the ground is for sports racing cars.

If you are running as Special Saloon in Sports Libre then (S) 12.5.10 applies.
[referenced from (S) 14.2.4 ]

So a rear "aerofoil" is not permitted only a "spoiler" and again constrained to half the rear window height.

Since the clarification of 'special saloon' within the 2010 blue book, it becomes rather difficult for a heavily modified saloon to comply. As a result, lots of us become 'Sports Racing Cars' by default and therefore aerofoils (below 90cm) & roof spoilers are allowed.
