Thought i might be a idea to have a thread about what people might like and ideas for the BHC, just thoughts.

The first readers poll that we had on speedhillclimb.com (asking about lunchbreaks) closed at midnight last night. Once we have run through the results of that, then we will start a poll asking about the numbers of rounds in the BHC.

Obviously we will publish the results on the site, but we will also make the full results available to the BARC if they would like them...

Longer meetings

Longer, fuller events.
I'm going to the WTCC round at Doni on Sunday and I would be pretty p****d off (like I'm sure most on here would be) if I travelled all that way, payed a healthy wack to get in and then was told it was all over at 2.30!!! I would never go back.
As I've said on here in the past BHC events at Harewood in particular are usually over and done with by early/mid afternoon. Paying spectators are getting bad value for money.
I know that BHC competitors often have to travel great distances and appreciate an early finish to get home, but I do feel some thought should be given to paying spectators who after all help to keep the sport going.

Practice runs on the same day as the timed runs would make sense to me

I think Harewood is unique in finishing early - due not only to the efficiency of the planning, but also the layout, length and nature of the hill. I have only visited the hill eight times, but have never seen a major incident there. Hours can be lost with a major shunt at Prescott, Shelsley or Loton etc.. And I know many BHC events are frequently full.

Sun am practice - yes please
online entry for all hills and champs
online results
a more symphathetically designed calendar
a good old Sat pm par-tay

umm...

It is good that sensible discussion is taking place - So I will repeat
I think that with 34 rounds there has long been a serious barrier to new people entering the series. On the other hand I find it sad that the British Sprint Championship has been decided so early in the year
If you put together some of the thoughts from above:
1 round per venue
No more than 2 rounds per month
Possible Regional Championships culminating in a Shoot-Out
You may come up with a much more viable Championship that would encourage people to take part
I think the rising costs especially the need to travel off shore to have any chance of finishing in the top 10 at the end of the year has for a long time been prohibitive
Let's hope the future is bright

This is an unfortunate occurrence brought about by the cancellation of the last TWO rounds of the championship at Lydden. If there were any half decent sprint events after mid-August then I am sure they would be included.

This couldn't be part of the BHC as it would require a seperate franchise due to the "regional" events needing to be (a) NAT A, and (b) run under the BHC umbrella.

If you reduce the number of rounds you will also reduce the number of counting events which would allow a "full score" by just doing the English & Scottish rounds.

There have been moves to make ALL rounds count but in an amateur championship that would never be allowed.

Steve, is this a preference from championship organisers or written into MSA rules? Take MSV F3, an MSA endorsed amateur championship, all rounds count. If similar logic followed for speedevents it would be possible to have fewer rounds without reducing scoring rounds.

We do 18 rounds over 9 weekends - spread from March to October. An average of just over 1 a month. Very convenient for the time and money budget. And as a result we have competitors from UK, Southern Ireland and mainland Europe.

1 A meeting every 2nd weekend .
2 If 2 day meeting a practice on sunday morning
3 Split the championship into 3 areas ie Northern, Midland. Southern poss have a shoot out too confirm overall champ.
4 Better toilet n shower facilities .
5 1 meeting per venue
