Bike Engined Pilbeam

I read that there is a MP62 to be mated with a Hayabusa, an interesting mix! Also that the car used to house a 2.8 Hart. I assume that this is the ex Brims/Whyte/Kittle/Moulds car?

Also that an MP50 has previously been trialed with Motorbike engines, does anyone know which car this was? My Dad sold an MP50 to the south about 10 years ago, and i have never heard of it again.

It would be remarkable if the 2 last Pilbeams to leave my dad's hands ended up with bike engines

Steve W - I recall you collated a remarkable collection of car ownership on the "site we do not speak of".....any plans to resurrect such thread?

Cheers

Fin

I will keep an eye on this thread
I am also interested in whether this happened
If it did what was the result
If it didn't could it work

The MP 50 was out at werrington park hillclimb today and is the ex Terry Graves/ John Forsyth car, not sure who had it before john.
The MP62 is still being built but i think should be out this year.

This Pilbeam was built as chassis MP5 01 for Dave Harris to run with a Hart 2.8 engine. It wassold to DavidRender who did not run it very mch. Mike Lane bought the car as a roller and ran it with a 1.6 BDA wand ran it i the sprint championship. The car was purchasd by Rob Turnbull who shared the car with Jeremy Bouckly for a season, then a Hart 2.5 was put back in. Ro ran the car like this for a couple of seasons before Ray Rowan installed a Judd BV 3.2. Rob recked the at Doune where by SPA buit a new stronger tub for the car. Rob Welch aquired the car and ran it untlhe had anaccident with the rocks at Barbn and ripped the tub open. SPA built a new tub for it agin but Rob never ran tghe rebuilt car. Bill Bristow bould the new tub and engine etc and installed the engine in his Ralt RT36 where it still runs today in the hands of Peter Howgate and Brian Woffendon.
The Pilbeam then passed onto John Forsythe who installed a Rover V8. The car was then bought by Terry Graves who used it for a season or two before it passed on agaain, which is where i loose it.

I was involved with the car when it was owned by both the Robs as i use to be Ron Hands assistant. I have a soft spot for this car and spent many hours working on it.

Cheers

Rich
