I also have the Speed and How to Obtain It book - 3rd edition though - handed down from my dad who used to race Vincents

Classic read.

Just bought the Pashley book from Amazon for £14

Sorry about going off topic but talking of old Triumphs I have a 1934 Model 3/5 350 and a 1936 350. The 34 runs beautifully and has been used on numerous rallies. The 36 is not quite complete.

I won't put photos here because it's inappropriate.

I have built a few racing cars in my days. The one in my avatar - a space frame Mini with 1500, 8 port injected engine won me 3 National Championships in the 80s.

Son Josh has followed on with a Kawasaki engined single seater he built himself which presently leads the Malta Hill Climb and Sprint championship with just 2 rounds to go. He had his second outright win of the season a couple of weekends ago, as well as a couple of good placings in Sicily in the last couple of months - 2nd overall at Cesaro and 7th overall and class win at the Etna last month.

We are presently negotiating a 2003 Formula BMW - Tatuus rolling chassis - less engine and Gearbox onto which we will put the same Kawasaki ZZR1400 he presently runs in JBR3. This should be ready in time for next season.

I managed to borrow a copy from Rev Barry. There are lots of very short chapters, and therefore it has a wide range. The sections thermselves are a bit too brief to carry the detail that many will seek. e.g. on suspension design and goals. That said, there are a huge amount of good photos and often this is what you need to get started on a project of making or modifying a car. I would say its a very good accompanyment to Allan Staniforth's books on suspension & his Race & Rally Car Sourcebook.

Happy Christmas, Craig

Give my best regards to the Rev. Barry when next you see him. I met him once at 3 Sisters in 2007. What a great chap.

See you next season
Best wishes
Brian

I certainly will Brian. Rev Barry drives a Special, and is somewhat 'special' himself. I will see him in the new year and will be at the Autosport Show with him too. He is building yet another RBS (no. 7). Btw, what car do you run & in what class? Are you in the 1100 class? I'm not sure what your surname is either, but hopefully we shall meet at some northern venue.

Happy fast & safe new year,
Craig Powers
