Channel Island Rounds 2012 - Advice, please

I've always wanted to go to spectate at the two Channel Island rounds, and have finally decided to "take the plunge" (not literally!) in 2012, and make it part of a holiday. My wife also thinks it a good idea! (How lucky am I?) Anyone got any advice - suggestions for hotels, good spectating spots, getting between both islands between events. Any info would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Look at hotels on www.jersey.com, travel between the islands by boat (condorferries) 1 hour crossing about £35 each way, or you can fly (aurigny or blueislands) which takes about 10 minutes for £100 ish.

"The Waters Edge" hotel in Jersey is right by the start line.

Book early particularly your Guernsey hotel as it's often hard to find accomodation there if you leave it too late.

Bring some sunshine with you when you come to Guernsey! 2 years on the trott we've had less that decent weather!

Hotels in Guernsey near(ish) to the Terres.

Piette Hotel, about 20 mins walk on flat ground
Ambassador Hotel, 15 mins or so walk on flat ground from the top of the Hill
Fermain Valley Hotel, quite close to the Ambassador so about 15 mins again.
Pandora Hotel, 10 mins from the startline down a hill
Havelet Hotel, 5 mins from the startline down a hill (probably the best choice IMHO)

Unfortunately the Ambassador Hotel is no longer trading. It is now staff accomodation.

We went over and watched both a couple of years back. Stayed in one of the flats on the start line at Bouley Bay so we had our own personal viewing balcony, brilliant set up!

Booked the Yacht last November for this year, then recieved an e-mail 2 weeks before the event to say they were overbooked, Thanks.
Stayed at La Piette on Jackie Le Cheminant recomendation. Very good, 10 mins walk.
Watersedge isthe place to stay in Jersey, although its not as good as it used to be. See you in July.
