I (and everyone else in the class) was asked 3 times last year for MOT, insurance and on one occasion the V5 doc. So it would seem the South West is a little more stringent with this.

When I ran my Elan in Sports Libre I had it logbooked. IF I had run it in Road-going, which it was eligible for, I would still have needed the Insurance Certificate. MoT Certificate etc.

Couldn't be arsed to more like.

Yup think you're right on the last bit - running in the roadgoing class for the last 6 years - asked much more often than i'm not

Think your friendly scruit was winding you up

Re Driving it there.
Have done that.
Have trailered it too.

And had the same question about driving them there asked on the HSA forum and it effectivly just messes everybody about - apart from the person who just takes themselves to the gig.
If you want to take your partner / family / share a small two seater or just stay for a weekend then you either end up taking two cars or a trailer - driving it there just isn't an option for everybody.
Especially as you'll find a lot of cars now that arn't type approved for a trailer, so the option of sticking a small camping trailer on the back of your Caterham (seen that too ) isn't an option any more.

If you want to make Roadgoing more stringent then change the specification rules for the cars - leave peoples personal logistics problems to them.

Not forgetting that the newer RTA licence holders have no trailer/towing entitlement.
I have been saying for some time that this will eventually have an effect on newer conscripts to the ranks.
OK, yes they can go and take the towing test at a Ministry test station but on top of all the other red tape and kit to buy they may just see it as one hassle too many.
The farming and country folk have been hit by it and many of the younger members of these families are taking a test after a short training course at the specialist instructors that have set up in market towns.

On the practical side, if you drive a car to an event and compete in it you then have problem should you be unlucky enough to stuff it. At least if it is towed there you can get enough help to get it on the trailer and home.

There is always the method i saw at Pembrey a few years ago. Competed in a Hertz hire car and rolled it. Pushed it outside the track pushed it in the hedge and claimed to have missed a cat and got the AA to get it home.

Cheers

Rich
