Classification / "The Competition"
Hi, first post so apologies if this in the wrong place!
I'm interested in doing sprints / hill climbs (Tin Tops) and just wanted to confirm I'd got the following right...... I want to build the car myself (as much as realistically possible), I've already got the base car which is a 2001 Clio 172. I've owned it from new and I'd like to give it a new lease of life!! I don't want to keep it road legal so the Roadgoing Series is a non stater which would mean entering in the Modified Series Production Cars. With capacity of the Clio that would mean Class C2, is that correct? Just wondered what vehicles other people are using who compete in that class? Obviously I'd like to be competitive but for me it's also about building the car and then developing it. Any advice / pointers greatly appreciated Thanks |

Hi Oggers,
I run a road-going Clio 172 phase 1 in hillclimbs and sprints. Mod prod here in the SW is dominated by some very quick 205s. You will probably have to be very inventive to get a Clio as light as a 205. Kerb weight for a 205 is 880kg, Clio is 1098kg! The real problem with trying to be competitive with a Clio is that of gear ratios, unless you can afford a Sadev box! The engine can achieve 220/230BHP without too much fuss, but not much more. Good luck, hope it goes well, but don't forget, just enjoy, however competitive you are!
