Clutch Pads

Where can you buy/get the material to make clutches out of?

I don't mean the clutch plate or anything but the fibre stuff (don't know the technical term...)

We've got some centrifugal clutches at home for the karts and ideally we'd like to recondition the old ones with limited pad for practicing to save wearing the race ones out. (they cost £120 a shot so £20 for some padding and some adhesive is much better)

Gippo, dont want to be accused of shooting your ideas down in flames, but if you will be adviced by me, forget the idea. Friction material of any kind is a serious health risk and I dont think you have the skills or equipment to handle the stuff. You dont want to be taking a hacksaw or jigsaw to it and as for the adhesive, it needs something a bit stronger than Evostick. Get yourself an old brake pad, clamp it in the vice, put a good face mask on and try to seperate the material from the steel, then you will see what I mean. At one time you could buy pre shaped clutch inserts and maybe some one can still point you in the right direction to purchase some, but forget cutting the stuff.......

Thanks for that - it wasn't a "I will do it", just curious, as I say, will save me £120!
