Cost of events

Been out of the sport last year. Took a break because of cost and time.

Just planning ahead, sorting out which events to do, and probably keeping things local now fuel is going up again.
I spent £620 on diesel for the van in one record month in 2009, just towing the car about. Don't really want to repeat that again, so it looks like the good events in Wales are off the calendar for this year.

I'm based in Herts.
Has anyone got some new ideas about events to do in this area, New venues, good value lots of time in the car type events etc? Which venues are reducing their costs if they were struggling for numbers last year?

There are three events at Debden this year. Depends on which side of Herts you're on -- it goes all the way from where I am (bordered by Essex on 3 sides) down to Tring...

Ah Debden, good point. Did it a long time ago over Saffron Walden way.
Did they end up resurfacing the airfield & what the noise situation like now?
Quite fancy doing that again. Do you have some dates?

Surface seems pretty good on the track proper, I believe HCAAC have repaired it and keep it free of weeds. Noise situation is the same as any other event, except that no starting up of single seaters before 0930 I think.

AEMC regs show the following at Debden this year:

8th May (HCAAC)
10th July (B19MC)
2 October (HCAAC)

Also depending on where you are in Herts, Hethel, Snetterton, Honington and Lydden are all within striking distance (90 mins or so). And Brands Hatch of course.

There is a championship with a very low cost registration and a fantastic calendar.

Midland Speed has again kept its combined membership and registration at £25 or £20 for January registrations.

Can't help with the travels costs though!
