I thought top12 was an official site? Anyway I haven't heard much fact about this future bid but Harewood's is one of the best sites out there so hopefully that is a good sign.

If I can be any help Hasta just let me know.

P.S 108,804 hits on my site that week

Please tell me that the winning bidder of the new Championship bid etc, will spend a little time and money on a decent, one-stop website, that combines times, results, regs, reports and a decent 'contact us' bit? And that's updated every day/event? The Midland Champs website was years out of date, and the BHC/Leaders don't even have one.
Top12 and SpeedHill are nice starts, but infrequently updated. Would be nice if the championship had some affiliation with them, or if resultsman and other live timing sites could be incorporated as a ticker on the homepage etc. Wouldnt half help the profile of the sport, and new people wanting to watch/get involved...

rant over, back to my coffee. Well done Lee...
Try a cold shower Rob

Early on in the life of Uphill Racers we did go some way towards that. Results as they happened, the pioneering of the live timing along with Hasta, regs in the Downloads section etc

The results were stopped as we were moaned at around midday of a BHC round for not updating even when the Top 12 Run Off hadn't happened by that time. Then same again at about 3:30PM regardless of whatever else we might be doing that day. There are other things to do on Sunday as well!

The live timing was initially run on here went over to Resultsman when Hasta had developed it further although we do link to a frame on the front page containing last 12 runs on occasions. He is a long standing friend and colleague of ours and we do a lot of work together either at Midlands venues or online projects.

The Regs part of Downloads was only ever as good as it's contributors in the fact that few contributed. Even when they did no one looked. Getting electronic championships regs was like getting blood out of a stone. The Midland regs were scanned in by Steve Day for us after they had been published in paper form but by that time they had landed in prospective entrants mail bags. Ditto with the desire to spend an evening scanning championship regs and posting PDF's on our part.

The whole thing does need consolidating and running as a cohesive unit but really by someone who is running a championship and can do a 'one stop shop' as Rich Danby says in his post. Only they really have the commercial interest and its too much of an arse as an independent site to do it all. We do all have other things to do and to date the existing hillclimb clubs, management and organisation infrastucture still hasn't realised the potential and power of the web.
They can only be led to water, we can't make them drink it.

We realised long ago but it all takes time and resources and to what end?

Doune Live Timing etc

I really appreciatte the work of resultsman and also the work Rich Danby does in updating the (tell me if I am wrong !) only full up to date BHC table.
Sitting here working in a cold Johannesburg on Sunday it was great to be able to 'watch' the results come in - shame about the odd hiccup but I am sure in time it will be fixed - anyway I for one want to say thanks !
Hope to see everyone at Harewood if my plane does not get stuck in Chilean volcanic ash !!

Totally agree John. I wasn't criticising at all; resultsman, speedhillclimb on twitter & Mr Danby do a stirling job & being away a lot this season their contributions are invaluable...
