Good stuff Graham, what are you hoping for power wise?

Its a std engine on aftermarket induction, exhaust and ecu, so maybe 190bhp with some coaxing.

It'll have 220 when the cosworth caterham cams and lifters are fitted, then the next stage is change the head etc. All in good time though. The zetec was quick with around 180bhp, and this weighs a lot less.

Injectors test out ok, as do the relays for the radiator fan and the fuel pump. The video shows me running through the diagnostics tests of the DTA S80

Second video shows the sparks working, using the Ford Coil On Plug coil packs, which also worked first time. 8-)

Tonight we have working oil pressure gauge and 40psi while cranking the engine over. The 1bar low oil pressure warning leds also work. So the sandwich plate must be earthed via the other sender units.

The oil pressure gauge sender had the earth and signal cables swapped round, hence it read 4psi all the time. When I swapped them over it read 0psi, and the pressure gauge now shows the actual oil pressure.

And 40psi on the key isn't bad is it? And it holds the pressure for 20seconds after I stop cranking the engine.

Just been speaking to the guys on the shopfloor about the best way to join all the shielded twisted pair cables together for the 10 sensor feeds.
They reckon I need to join the drain wires from the ten cables together, using tails, which are then joined together and form a common earth.

The MOD way of doing this is to use a soldersleeve, which is a heatshrinkable sleeve that has a metal solder ring inside, so the tail is layed along side the earth shield, and when heat is applied the tail is soldered to the shield. But my cables have a foil shield and a drain wire, so I cant do that, which is no bad thing really.

I'll make 10 tails tonight, and get to work on the cables.

Its never ever going to be considered a MILSPEC loom, but at least the approach I've taken is to use the same techniques as used for MOD cabling.

Sounds like you will have the first EMP proof car on the hills

Well it all helps reduce the rfi which has to be a good thing.

6 of the ten sensors must use shielded cable as they're hall effect sensors, so I ran shielded for the remaining tps and 3 temperature sensors for the 'belt and braces' approach.

All the wiring is now done. Just the lambda left to plug in. All the sensors appear to be working, bar the tps which i'l fix tonight.

Crank and cam sensors out put from the dta software
