thx graham -although I cannot take credit for the analysis....hope it helps...additonally...
Tthe "not working till I revved it ", is a classic case .of the hot water from the deleted heater pipe, this hot water tells the element to open . no hot water flow over the element ,no opening

All done.

Water pump impeller is 100% attached to the pump shaft.
Stat removed.
Bypass hose removed.
Belt refitted.
Rad refitted.
Full of water and ready to test.

Fixed

Twas the bypass hose that was causing the problem.
Runs perfect now. Fans come on, engine cools down.
