Forgive my ignorance: info needed

Quicker to ask you experts than trawl the internet:
1
What is the biggest straight 4 bike engine available?
2
What power/torque in stock trim would it have (ish)
3
Does anyone make a 1:1 lsd unit so the bike output can be driven straight into a 'normal' diff without chains?
4
I've heard that there is a big BMW flat twin: Good bhp etc
Is this so??

hope you can answer the questions.
Thanks, Graham.

For modern motors in a fairly high state of tune the most obvious options are Suzuki Hyabusa's (GSXR1300) or Kawasaki ZZR1400

BMW now do high performance in-line 4s in the 1000 & 1300 sizes. Not to be confused with their old flat twins.

Lots of tuning bits for Haybusa and they can be taken out to 1600cc's but that requires big bucks and lots of new bits.

Graham, no, don't even think about it for your car, just sort the gear box out
Triumph make a 2300cc triple, mounted longitudinally that is shaft drive, easy to fit in a car (well the diff would need sorting still, but no chain) it's not very powerfull but I think TTS make a Rotrex conversion for it @ 240bhp

stick to whats been proven, ie Suzuki hayabusa, so many tuning varients on this engine nothing else compares.
The newer type Kawaski zzr 1400 sounds pretty good on paper, but thats about it.
There are some big cc cruisers type bike motors, but thats why they are in cruisers, not really classed as a high performance type motors.

Check out this one, if your pockets are deep enough you can buy a billet hayabusa block and mount it to your gearbox

Thanks to all for the rapid 'response'.
Looking at several angles Rob, Big Bike being one.

They are proven, compact and light and well understood.

Others are the 'Z Car' subframe system with honda car engines/box (shades of Atom) but the drivetrain almost sits on the rear axle line. I could put 3 suitcases in the gap behind the Lola's seat..

The Lola refused to start today, hissing and farting yes, simply running? No.

My patience is thin already.
Seen a fab N/A Cosworth complete/webers etc dry-sump engine today but £6500!
Add a Hewland @ 5k, all very silly.

ADR do a v nice Honda to Hewland version and I think Radical did a Zetec in one of their cars too.

Autosport show very soon so eyes wide open!

I might have to re-drivetrain but i would only do this with something wacky, just cannot think of another drivetrain yet except a subaru/dog box = £5k.(you can convert the bullet proof box to 2 WD and dog gears for £2K.)

I'm with Rob - take a Prozac, lie down for a while in a darkened room... and then go and fix the gearbox!

Have a good NY Graham.

A 'Busa is the only way forward on a bike engine, I reckon. If that's not enough, then fit two - they're tiny and about 90kg with gearbox, I believe. My K8 GSXR1000 is a bit lighter (~70kg) and not far short on power (185bhp @flywheel), but not so tunable without forced induction. 400bhp should be ample...

Tried to start the thing today.
No hope.
Pops and farts but no running.

This car forever fights back.(hence these questions)

90 Kg with a box.
My 911 box weighs about 60Kg, the engine about 200Kg

I just cannot stand the thought of an oilly chain out back...but what a great package and save about 200Kg!

Allan;
You should be about the quickest in 2012 in the class, i feel i will be just making up the numbers.Having fun. Fixing the issues.

My 911 and my Impreza broke 3 times between them in 21 years of hillclimbs, a de-laminated clutch, a snapped rear half shaft and a tree that jumped out onto the track at Top Esse and shortened the car by an inch.

Maybe if I sneak up on it tomorrow it might start.
