Future of Curborough

As many of you will know, Curborough has been under threat due to a proposed large scale development in the area. I am pleased to say that I recieved a letter today from Lichfield council informing me that the planning application has been withdrawn.

Grass Roots Motorsport saved by recession...

Funny how things turn out eh!?

Great news, this particular threat should be dead and buried for good IF the govt give the proposed High Speed Rail line the nod first...

Proposed route here

They aren't going to build a new "community" around that are they

I'm a bit worried about the noise from all those 300kph trains trundling past only 150m from the hairpin causing disturbance to spectators and competitors though.

You need a bit of excitement down at the start line for double lappers

IF the proposed plans are dead in the water - something I doubt knowing property developers - then surely there is a possibility of an extended lease? If that were the case then Shenstone could consider raising funds to improve the venue.

Great news, as for improving the venue part of the charm and popularity of Curborough for me is the slightly make make do and mend rough and ready feel there. The folks are always friendly without pretentions, to me what affordable grassroots sport is about.

Grass roots .. Rice is a grass . That may be why its more like a rice paddy somedays . I noticed on the map the paddock and start line area are marked as Flood Plain
