Curborough can certainly be damp and dismal but I love it and it embodies eveything good about grass roots motorsport! Simon |

I noticed there was an article in Motorsports news last week in which Lichfield council stated that they had no intention of building on Curborough - so wonder if MN have their facts right

...Thought I'd up the ante a bit:
"Dear Sir, I object strongly to the inclusion in the Council's Development Plans of the "New Village Option" which concentrates development on the land south of Wood End Lane. Such a development would cause the loss of a unique motorsport facility of community, regional and national importance. Curborough as a motorsport venue does much to raise the visibility of the general area and its loss would be an appalling waste. The proposed "New Village" development appears to be an ill conceived and opportunistic money making scheme which flies in the face of logic in terms of need and suitability. I therefore favour the Council's existing settlement hierarchy and would urge you to continue with this strategy rather than be diverted into developing on the Curborough site. Please let me know if you require additional information or clarification since I know I speak for literally hundreds, if not thousands, of committed Curborough supporters. Yours sincerely" Went in today...all grist to the mill!

Well, the consultation has closed.
A big THANK YOU from all the Curby folk to all who sent their objections to the Council. LDC now need to finalise their plans but local gossip suggests that their thinking could well be favourable to sprinting. I even hear a rumour that Curborough is named in the draft plans as "an important sporting facility". It just goes to show the power of public opinion. It doesn't mean that we can be complacent. But, as the man said when he jumped off the Empire State "so far, so good". Semper vigilandum. |

Two more objections from this end (me and 'er...) went in before the deadline.
Apart from the clear building/amenity/nuisance/etc. issues, it was also pointed out to the Council that the developer's website was extremely misleading to the point where some of it could easily have been taken as 'official'...and if there's one thing local councils don't like, it's being misrepresented
