George Hardman

I am sorry to relay the news that George Hardman passed away on Monday.

Many on this site will remember George as a quiet gentleman in the pits and a determined competitor on the track. He was so committed to our sport that he went out of his way to arrange the chemotherapy so that his "good weeks" coincided with his chosen events.

In my work as a GP I care for many terminally ill patients but none have borne their burdon with greater bravery and charachter than George. His last few weeks were spent in Trinity Hospice where he amazed everyone with his fortitude. He seemed determined to have a few extra sneaky laps before answering the call to come into the pits.

The funeral will be held at the Willows, Ribby Road, Kirkham, on Friday 12th March at 10.30am. Our thoughts go out to Chris and all the family. He will be sadly missed.

My thoughts go out to Chris and family

It doesn't seem five minutes since we were stood in Three Sisters pitlane chatting over, and generally taking the mickey about, our respective co pilots - with George you could be assured a good laugh was only seconds away.
Having had many great battles in our class I'll remember an exceptional competitor and a truely great bloke who we'll sadly miss.

I second all of the above. George was a gent. I really enjoyed competing against/with him these last few seasons and was looking forward to more of the same in 2010. I shall miss him.

My condolences to Chris and family at this very dificult time.

I would just like to echo the sentiments of Jim, and to say how much I enjoyed the battles between the four of us at Aintree and Three Sisters.
