Getting back into Hillclimbing after a break.

As per the thread title - I stopped hillclimbing in 2007 after selling the Gould GR-37 that I shared with Peter Smith, and spent the next couple of years building an Ultima GTR. I really enjoyed that project, but I sold the car a few months ago, as I was just not using it much.

Now I have the bug to get back into hilllclimb, but just in a limited way with some club events. I never did enough in the Gould to really get to grips with that car, so my intention is to go back to a bike-engined car in the 1100 or 1600 class, for a bit of fun.

I hope to see some old faces at Gurston next season !

Regards
Kelvin

Hi Kelvin

Brilliant choice of Class IMO , Have you a car in mind ?

Depending on your budget, Will Halls Force is a bargain, fitted with all the best parts, and no expense spared on maintainance with Ian Dayson

Good luck with the return, i may even get down there again with the caterham

Dave,

I think some kind of OMS will fit the bill nicely - Will's car is clearly top-notch but is more car than I need or want for the plans that I have - I am hoping to share the car with another Gurston regular, who is pulling together his budget at the moment, and then we will have a better idea of what can be bought.

Regards
Kelvin

Look forward to seeing you next season! Depending what you are looking for, I think Steve Marr (Steve Slow Boy) still has a nice SF2 for sale at present. He and GWR have tweaked it so it is very well sorted.

Good luck with your searches.

Or my 1300cc Hornet. Same price as the SF2 and best part of 10 years younger. Driven by Steve Owen himself twice this year and commented on for its excellent handling!

Check out the for sale section!

Thanks Paul,

The "GR" has to sell a car first, so I ought not to say anything about him yet, as the plan is dependent on that happening !

Cheers !
