Gloves for 2010?

I have just read the report in Autosport from Gurston. Is this true that gloves are to be mandatory for 2010?

I may be cynical but I bet that the requirement and specification will not be clear and concise. Hope to be proved wrong but....................

I understand that there will be a recommendation for 2010 that all drivers of single seat racing cars, sports libres, clubmans and open top sportscars wear fireproof racing gloves. I suspect that in due course this will become mandatory.

I believe they are about to become mandatory, if only from the fact that the OMP ones to FIA spec I bought 18 months ago have suddenly jumped in price from £26 to to nearly £40!!!!!!!!. That sort of price rise seems to indicate the profit opportunity for suppliers when things become a must.

Exactly as Andy says, mandatory in 2010, I did the research before writing and was already aware that the change requires a bit of re-learning of technique because the mobility of hands is affected. Worth persevering with of course.

I think the MSA may have changed their mind because in the rule changes part of the latest "Motorsports Now" magazine it says "Competitors are strongly recommended to wear flame-resistant gloves"

Always worn gloves after I stopped competing road saloon cars, many years ago.
