Groves wins, drops bombshell
Groves signs off with win and a bombshell
For those of you who have not already heard: Martin Groves finished his season at Loton Park with another win and a new class record. He then proceeded to drop a bombshell by announcing his retirement for at least a year’s sabbatical. Citing family and business pressures, Martin announced that he and co-driver Paul Ranson will take at least a year out and will attempt to sell their four-times championship winning Gould GR55b. Martin and Scott Moran took a win each as they have done ever since Craigantlet on the first Saturday of August. None of the top nine positions changed at the final event but Will Hall moved ahead of Eynon Price in the final run-off of the year to claim tenth and that coveted ‘number’ for 2010. All at Uphill Racers extend their congratuations to Martin on his fourth title and to Paul Ranson for his great season including first ever run-off win. Haste ye both back! |
