Practice day itineary is usually published with the regs/entry forms which are normally out by early Feb.

Hi Paul,

The HW Practice Day is a great opportunity to get some track time at the UK's longest permanent Hillclimb venue (plug, plug ).

The day itself has previously been run in an "open pitlane" format although this has been dropped in recent years as it times it meant that the paddock/startline chute became a solid queue as drivers "lapped" the venue in order to maximise runs, this did result in some drivers being a bit greedy and ending up sitting in their cars for hours on end - not good!

The format now is a batch system (like competition days), where the entry (usually around 60) is split into 3 batches who are called and run in rotation, this gives opportunity for rest and reflection in-between times.

The batch format has proved to be no less restrictive for those wanting to maximise the number of runs, as by mid afternoon most drivers are beginning to pack up, this means the keener driver can still get more runs as the batch sizes reduce.

You should be able to get at least 7/8 runs in, I think some people last year got 12/14!

All in all a great day for BARC Yorkshire Center members to shakedown their latest demon tweaks and prepare for the season ahead.

I hope to be there again this year.

Cheers

J
