Harness Standards
I thought this had been cleared up by now, but apparently not...
I was told by the scrutineer at Three Sisters on Saturday that from next year Proban overalls will not be accepted, only the FIA 2000 type. I don't think this is correct - the Blue Book clearly states that overalls can be made from Proban, Nomex or any similar material so long as it meets the standards laid out. So long as it isn't car racing, karting or rallying it says EN533 is good. The scrut said this would not be the case from the start of next year - but in the Blue Book red text clearly states which regs will change next year - it stats FIA 1986 will run out at the end of this year, and in the helmet section is says the Type A BS will not be valid next year and Snell 2000 may be removed too. So does anyone know if this is rubbish or not? |

Yep, you've just about got it covered, except that FIA 1986 is only out for racing, it's still valid for Sprints/Hills. Unless someone else has a different opinion.
If a scrute tells me something that I think is incorrect, I hand them my copy of the blue book and ask them to show me. Of course do it in a friendly manner. always carry your Blue book. |

I agree with Allan, what a PITA. I've only been for one event, I'll try to make it the last. Which is a shame because it's quite easy for me to get to. The highlight of the day was a conversation with the Rev. Bob
