That is impressive.

But I'd much rather have a go at it in a Scooby than the Rover 827 that Tony Pond attempted it in !!

Pond tried it in an SD1 at some point too if i remember correctly.
When working not far from Longbridge, i heard that the 827 was 'prepped' and not exactly a std car though...

It was around 300kg lighter and had 240bhp.

I can highly recommend the dvd of Tony Ponds 100 mph+ lap.

Hopefully it'll be on YouTube later on.
Wonder how quick a single seater could get round.

Current record is held by John McGuiness at 130.something. Who would be quickest between a car and a bike has been bandied about for years. When Bob Mac broke the 100 barrier, John Surtees said an F1 car would blow that into the weeds and I reckon that still stands, though I doubt if a rally car will do it. I believe that from the start to Ramsey, the bikes are averaging over 140mph..

It would be close, but overall i think the bikes would win, as they can straight line so many of the bends, and jump or wheelie over dips crests that would upset a formula car. They are doing 195+ on sulby straight so a formula car wouldn't be much quicker in a straight line

Yep the average from start to ramsey on a superbike is 142mph, Mark Higgins did 124mph in what is effectively a 4dr saloon, but as with the TT riders he does have a little local knowledge . I think they were looking to do a lap on slicks today weather permitting, and they reckoned that a lap closer to 120mph average would be on with the extra grip

The 600 are clocking 127mph, Superstock 130 and superbike 131.5mph averages so it suggests the bike are close on the limit of cornering speed available with 2 tyres.

Interesting theories aside i think is amazing to watch them control the bikes in the slow mo shots.
