Ingliston - BSC Rds 4 & 5

The Scots dominate as sprinting returns to Ingliston

1st & 2nd May 2010

Dunfermline Motor Club worked wonders to get sprinting back at Ingliston which was for a long time the home of motor racing in Scotland. The double header sprint round was dominated by the Scots as they hammered home their advantage over the Sassenachs.

On Saturday Stewart Robb Snr was pushed hard by Wallace Menzies, who was giving his DJ Firestorm its British Sprint Championship debut, and Ross Napier. Robb only taking the top 12 run-off victory with a late second run charge despite a broken exhaust pipe. Terry Holmes took fourth ahead of the battle of the two litres which was resolved in favour of former Formula Ford racer Colin Birkbeck. Tom Potter was somewhat subdued in eighth as the Jedi had a twisted driveshaft so he had to be ultra cautious.

The Scottish domination continued on Sunday when Ross Napier reset the Outright Course Record from the previous day in yet another second run charge. Wallace Menzies was again second but much against the plan Stewart Robb Jnr took third ahead of his father. The Robbs were plagued all day with a faulty clutch and it became markedly worse during the run-off. With the damaged driveshaft now repaired Tom Potter was electrifying as he flung the tiny Jedi up to fifth place. Mark Smith won the 2 litre battle whilst Gary Thomas again scored points in his 1100cc force.
