Lancia Delta FWD to RWD???

Hi chaps,
As we all know, FWD outright sucks especially if you want to go uphill! I'd like to build my 1.6 Delta HF turbo for ModProd as a 2.0 RWD, initially i wanted to go mid engine but regs would have me in sports libre. Maybe turn the engine, mate to a type 9 or something and put through a BMW rear diff might pass, but i have a feeling these regs are still going to p!ss in my chips-

12.6.1. The engine block must be externally identifiable
as that fitted to the original model or specified option
and it must remain in the same capacity class as the
original car or the manufacturer’s specified option for
the model and engine. Modification to all components
is permitted.

The HF 4x4 (pre integrale) came with a 2.0 8v, is that close enough for me to be allowed a 2.0 block do you think?

12.6.6. Engine and transmission must remain in a
similar position within the vehicle and in the same
position relative to each other as in the original
model.

Even if i turn the engine 90 degrees its still in a similar position within the vehicle, and the box will still be bolted onto the end of it.

12.7.1. Transmission layout to remain as original.

I'm guessing this might be the killer, as the diff would be moved to the rear?

I'm going to wiscombe hillclimb today so i'm hoping to catch a scrute to pick his brains on these subjects, but would like to see what everyone here makes of it too.
Thanks,
Guy

Yep , sports libre always good to see something new, the more saloons that compete the better , clubs might then split class between sports libre and saloon libre

what about using a 4wd delta and slinging away the front driveshafts and welding up the diff?

Interesting. I drove down to Oberhallau to watch Bruno Ianiello and others in the S4s last weekend.

Could you not see what can be done with your 4x4 setup (front-rear torque split), make your engine a bit stronger and boost the wotsits out of it? Or fit the 2.0-litre. As you say, the pre-Integrale HF 4WD was 1995cc and produced 265bhp in rally trim. Would that not keep you out of Libre?
