Llandow, July 16th

My next outing. Going to be turning up the wick a bit, but having never been there before, I'm looking for any DL1 data logs or on board video anyone would be kind enough to share with me. Or hints and tips (which bits to avoid, turning in points, gearing etc.)

What sort of top speeds are achievable there too? Are there any straights as long as the finishing straight at Aintree ?

Hi Graham

Its a simplistic track layout but one thats v tricky to get right. Basically an oval with a chicane at the end of the back straight and a bus stop section at the end of the first lap by the control tower. The bottom bend is fantastic but endless and casues high tyre deg. If raining be careful coming off the bottom bend onto the paddock straight as theres a massive dip right on line that becomes a lake and causes the car to either jump off line or at best feel as though the brakes have been slammed on ! (ive done some v v wet laps around the place). watch the fast guys in practice as they say the trick is to stay on the left after exiting the bottom bend and cross over to the right(racing line) as late as possible for the bus stop as its a smoother line. it can be a bit bumpy but as I drive a saloon you dont really notice it.

great little track - lovely cafe too

Cheers

Leighton

you cant (quite) take the chicane on the back straight flat out in a 600cc single seater. I tried and almost held it... ish. But then I didnt.

Damn good fun trying though. If you manage it, I'll buy you a pork pie.

Dickinson & Morris please!

Seriously, flat! And you wanted to get round the following corner!

Llandow

Aintree

The Llandow straights dont look as long as the finishing straight at Aintree. Hopefully I wont be limited by the rev limiter this time

Graham

The straights are not as long as Aintree - I'll walk it with you if you like on the morning of the event.

Cheers
