I think that looks like a brilliant championship. I wouldn't have thought the clashes with the Harewood events would be too bad - i couldn't see many people focussing on completing every event in BOTH championships.

And even if you are in both championships - you only have to do 10 of the L&DMC events, so could miss those that clash.

I have competed in the ANWCC championship this year and have been looking for a championship which has a few other more venues and which has Harewood rounds.

This championship looks perfect.

Especially as it also includes Loton Park and Barbon which are excellent. Im also looking forward to trying Olivers Mount and some of the other sprint venues.

Dan,

Yes it has a very good mixture of sprints & hillclimbs and a variety of venues. We have tried our best to include plenty of hillclimbs; we are a bit short on these in the north west! We have also avoided going to the heavily subscribed BHC rounds.

Longton's scoring gives higher points for its own rounds at 3-Sisters (3 off) and the Anglesey weekend (2 days, October) so be aware of that. It helps to do these rounds if you want to do well in the overall championship.

To spice things up further, Longton have created a separate sprint series comprising the above 5 Longton rounds. It is scored as best 4 out of 5. A free entry to a 3-Sister round will be provided to the top three finishers, as well as trophies. I think that this will be very popular.

The Longton Sprint Series operates in parallel with the main championship so you can do both at the same time.

For those who want some more variation Wigton's Northern Speed Championship is a good bet. As well as Harewood, Barbon and 3S, it goes to Kames, Forrestburn and Ingliston. Details in a month or so when all the dates are confirmed.

Would have expected to see scammonden included given the desire to see it continue as a viable venue.

A thousand rounds and no Scammonden - which is on the doorstep, is indeed sad to see.

Do you have a confirmed permit for the Championship already? If so, huge respect on putting that together so quickly and getting the permit through! I've still got a couple of tbc's then it's the long wait as the paperwork works it's way through the system. If not, and I may be mistaken, you may need to promote this as a provisional Calendar subject to any last minute change the MSA may see fit to enforce!

Longton released the championship calendar at the final meeting of the year so therefore have a high degree of confidence. There is always a risk that things may change, inevitably. I would descibe the calendar is Firm rather than Final.

I can't say what stage the MSA paperwork is at because I'm not involved in that aspect.

Blue, Alpine, I agree with you both. I did try, but sadly I have limited say in such matters. It's a committe decision and I have only one vote.

In the meantime I will support the Scammonden event personally, if possible.

If Scammonden has a trouble-free year in 2011 (e.g. no timing issues) then I will try again.
