MEC Irish Hillclimb and Sprint Video Report

Hi I've just published a video report from rounds 9 and 10 of the Connaught Competition Engines Irish Hillclimb and Sprint Championship 2011 some of you may find it interesting. Day one was a closed country road and day two was on a large Kart track.

I notice that some cars had timing struts, while others didn't. What are the regs regarding struts in Ireland?

Probably some of the guys who compete in France can't be bothered to refit the strut, which makes good sense to me though I can't get Roger to agree.....

Timing struts

Yes timing struts are compulsory here but rarely checked, as it happens mine broke off as a consequence of a little gyration in the wet !

If you turn up to the start line in the UK without a timing strut, you almost always get sent back.

A great video, as an ex Championship co-ordinator I would have loved to have had my championship promoted in such a way, I'm sure Phil at Connaught is delighted.

In times like these having this resource is good news for hillclimbing south of the border, especially when you have someone as entertaining as Simon behind the wheel, I'm sure you must have a pretty good YouTube following by now !!

The promotional power of these vids can't be understated. At the NI Awards one year, which are for all the branches of motorsport, the snappy hillclimb highlights video was so good we had one of the other championship's sponsors wanting to know if he could get the hillclimbs as well for the following year.

Well done and keep it coming
