Mk11 1300 xflow mallock which class?
My Mk11 Mallock is getting to the end of a refurb, I am considering sprinting or hill climbing it.
Which class would it fit into? How competitive with a 1300 xflow? |

I know there are specific classes for this type of vehicle at some events....but realistically at most you will be in Sports Libre and up against Hyabusa engined Radicals and the like, so you aren't going to be very competetive.
I know lots of people will be along in a minute to tell you how much fun you will have not winning anything and just competing but my advice would be to either convert it to bike power or get a bigger engine fitted! Either that or sell it to a circuit racer and get something else. Hillclimbing is great fun and relatively cheap, but the fact you are asking how competetive you would be makes me think you probably wont be happy being a mile off the winning pace.

Hold up, it might be very good at classic racing, not sure how old a mark 11 Mallock is? Have a look at the Paul Mattey championship, its handicapped based.

As I said....some events will have classes for your specific type of car depending on where you are, but they will be limited. I am no Mallock expert but I believe the mk11 is an early 1960s version.

Am I right in thinking Mk11s were built between 1971-'73?
If so it should fit in the Midland Hillclimb Champs, historic class M (might have to remove mudguards?) Definitely ok for sports libre. Not sure about Clubmans - 1700 xflows the norm there, but maybe 1300 is allowed? Or it would be perfect for Classic Clubmans class D (similar to f1300) on the circuits. |

I think you will find that a Mallock 11 is 1972 onwards, basically a Mk6 with wishbone IFS. You will therefore find that a number of classic championships will not consider the car although it would be welcome in the Classic sector of the REIS/HSA Speed Championship at www.hillclimbandsprint.co.uk

For "Clubmans" I should of course have said "Hillclimb Supersports" - still not used to the "new" name!
I don't know where to get engine regs for this class, but the chassis is obviously made for it! |

A Mk 11 won the 1971 Clubmans championship with none other than Ray Mallock at the wheel.
The mk11 then mk11b were built from 71 to 73, replaced by the mk14 in 1974. (mk12 was formula 3 / de dion & mk13 not used). Hope this helps. |

Not sure of your location, South, Midlands or North. Your default class will be Sports Libre either in the sub 1700cc or 2000 cc class i.e Class 4a or b. Class winners will be full race engines, but many people use old Clubmans supersports cars with class B formula ford engines, against which your car will be competitive. If your just starting out, the car will be more competitive than you. So go out and enjoy and learn. Being middle order is very respectable in your first year
