Modified mass production

After sifting through the discussions on class structure I am confused as to where my car should sit. I have run in Mod Prod for the last three years but would class my car as neither specialist or limited production as it is a mass produced Ford Escort. Sorry if I am missing something...

Mod prod is modified production so youre in the right class imho. often organisers merge mod prod and mod specialist/limited production too on the day though

Thanks for your input, but does this mean I could be up against a Vauxhall engined Westfield weighing 450kg and making 240bhp on slicks!

Sorry if I am being stupid here, but I can see no differrentiation in class between the hypothetical Westfield and my mass produced car in the blue book - in my limited experience the majority of the dwindling mod prods are mass production based and should not have to compete with specialised production cars. Is there room for another division? Please note I am not moaning - Just curious...

Exactly! The Modified Production Category covers ALL the classes of modified cars and these regulations are applied throughout. When it comes to the classes these are usually defined by production numbers.

However I have to agree with Dotty Dog Mk 1 when it comes to class amalgamations. I am always astounded by the total lack of imagination when amalgamating classes. If it was me I would amalgamate based on Class Records and thus put a Mod Prod class in with a class whose class record was as close as possible to the relevant Mod Prod one. It isn't rocket science!

I think 2009 is going to be a bit of a shake down year for these regs. Hopefully by the end of the year everything will have been cleared up. Also hopefully some of the event organisers with have got their degree in "Rocket Science" and it will all be smooth as silk

Or am I being to Hopefull here

It would seem that at Gurston we are running the classes we have run for the last few years so no confusion down south west

The MSA have been holding a series of briefings which should make things clear for them. Maybe in future they will do this well in advance!
