My Winter Project

A lot of rework has been done on the shell over the summer months.

The above shell has now been sold, so its back to the shell which Rob Harriman built a couple of years ago, going to give it a once over this week to see what if any thing needs doing to it before I start to put the car together, have decided the car will do selected hillclimbs and sprints, as the time need to commit to a specific championship is to much due to my workload next year.

Regards,

John

Rob's shell was very nice John. Didn't know you had it!

Cage was a beauty with some nice stiffening additions.
When i was exploring the options on my Impreza some years ago the weight was in the doors and the boot floor.
Rob got a lot of weight out of the car as a whole, getting towards 1000 Kg.

Glass screan, perspex everything else. Plastic doors/bonnet/boot and roach everything else out with a vengence.

After those thoughts I sold the car as it was, a road going Mod Prod and moved to the Lola.

Good luck.

You still entertaining a N/A engine?
RA gearbox?

Hi Graham,

Yep, should keep me busy over the winter, still looking into a N/A engine setup, but have a 2ltr CDB Turbo engine built up already, as well as the RA gearbox I bought a couple of years ago, which is also been rebuilt and sits in the workshop with zero miles on it, so the bulk of the costs have already been covered, just need to decide which suspension to go with, took a look at the shell over the weekend, forgot how well it was put together.

Regards,

John

Yes, two lads from Pdrive went to Zen to stitch it all up in their spare time.
Be interesting to see what you do with the suspension!

It will be light relief from the other car you have to fix-up!

On the suspension front I have decided to go with these, keeping it simple,

There was a nicely sorted 2 litre un turboed Impreza at Cowborough sunday.
Not sure how he got on but it was only his first visit. It did sound nice though.
