Have been speaking to a few engine builders over the last few weeks with regards to a N/A build, (Reason for this is I want to build car to Road Rally spec) this then gives me more scope to make use of the car, so a 2.5ltr engine will be the order of the day, the magic figure I am looking for is 250 lb ft Tourqe, wether it will be 2 or 4 WD, is down to the RR regs for next year, have set a target of 650kgs for the rolling shell, so over xmas its going on a diet, now all I have to do is track down a 2.5 engine.

Regards,

John

350kg for engine, box, rear diff, propshaft & drive shafts, to get below 1000kg it's going to be tuff but not impossible.

John

Plastic doors and 'glass' a must on top of all the usual stuff in carbon.
Everything out and all brackets off.

The suspension subframes are huge, so maybe replace with tube items (as per Prodrive)
Small tank, magnesium alloy wheels

I went through all these thoughts when i nearly did my Impreza a few years ago.
In hind sight, maybe I should have done it rather than the route I took!

Good luck with it all John, and keep us informed with a 1,000,000 pics!

Graham.

ps;
The Lola's gearbox is scrap after taking it all apart yesterday. It is absolutly cream crackered inside, but the LSD is good, and the drain plug is perfectly re-usable....
Little wonder I suffered this year with it.

I'm intrigued to know how they get the base plate of the main cage hoop passed when Log Booking
I was under the impression it had to sit on a specified area of 3mm steel plate ,
or is the corner flitch/fish plate part of the required area of plate ?

Only asking as I am about to start fitting the weld in cage kit for my Toyota Starlet

Lovely job they've done on that cage !
mine will be more agricultural in welding style - bigger welds is best - proper job

Bigger welds are NOT better, just heavier. Like lots of things in life, good penetration is essential................

Fuel tank time do I go for a OE tank, (22kgs with fuel pump) very low C of G or a alloy tank mounted in the boot space, (but with a very poor C of G), need to carry around 25ltrs of fuel on road events, so you see my reason for leaning towards the OE tank, any thoughts out there.

Regards,

John
