Mystery tub?

Anyone got a clue what this tub is?

It is constructed from plain aluminium sheet everywhere except the instrument panel area which uses honeycomb....Obviously from the style of the thing it looks like early 80s...but what? Large fuel tank area suggests circuit car rather than hillclimber ....F1? F2?.

If nobody can identify it i'll just have to invent a history for it...

And YES, of course, i'd be delighted to sell it if anyone can think of a use for it

Any ideas?

Hmmm, a very forward seating position & feet in front of the front wheel line.

Anson, Argo F3/ Atlantic cars?

Pretty sure it isn't either Argo or Anson. Argos tended to be a twin plank type chassis i think rather than the enclosed front......even the late examples with the driver stuffed far forwards (8s/9s etc) still used full length chassis and a twin plank design with tubular structure bridging the planks at the front. Anson used a more complex design with castings & a lot more honeycomb & began grafting on bits of carbon quite early on.

I'm sure someone on here will have had this thing in the their garage at some point in its life.

I feel sure that the MHC rescue team will be willing to receive this FOC in order to practice single seater extractions...

Back to the original question; it looks a bit like a Toleman F2 chassis (aka Roman).

Hi Steve,

I immediately thought Toleman, it has the rocker front suspension and similar looking rear rollhoop. But is the fuel cell area big enough for an F2 car of the period ?

TeamRitalin asked "is the fuel cell area big enough for an F2 car of the period?"

The angle of the roll-hoop looks the same as the Toleman/Roman sprint/hillclimb cars. Maybe Dermot could enlighten us as to where and from whom he picked this nugget up?
