Newbie help - MX5
Hello everyone
I am considering hill climbing in 2012. I have no experience at all, but think I would like to start in the "A2.1: Road-Going Series production Mazda MX5s up to 2000cc" class for the HSA (from my research, this seems like a good introduction to the sport). What would be a good MX5 to buy to enter this? I am currently looking at a 1.6 eunos? Is there anything I should look out for in a prospective car, e.g. common faults, good modifications, any modifications that would invalidate it for the championship? Many thanks in advance for any help you can give. I wasn't sure where to post this, so please feel free to move it as appropriate. Happy new year! Owen |

If you join the HSA forum there are plenty of current and ex MX5 drivers who will be happy to give you a wealth of info on where to start with the cars.

If your going mx5 use the 1600, it gives away 200cc in class a2 but is still competative, whereas the 1800 is an 1840cc and puts you at a bigger disadvantage in a3. Tried both went back to 1600,

Yup as has aleady been said, join the HSA, get on to their forum & chat to a few MX5 types.
Paul Webster will undoubtably help if asked... Just ignore the stripes...

I've just registered with HSA, in Class A2.1, (MX-5), and will be doing selected rounds in 2012. I am of mature years and have been in motorsport for longer than I care to remember. PM me if you need any help. I am using a Eunos 1600 of 1989 vintage.
