oh lordy... first drive..

well, weather (and hangover) permitting, it's the first ever drive of the car on sunday at Kemble. First race car, first season, first single seater... Rather scared, but even more excited. Very fortuantly, TemeVally's finest is going to come along and offer advice (and count the stalls!), but I feel horribly unprepared.. I've given the car a thorough spanner check, don't yet have a seat that fits me, and need to sort some new clip things to hold the sidepods on.. I think I know how to start it, but I've only started it twice

I'll sort my (very old, hard, and buggered) tyres out on sat for pressures, but what else should I do to prepare? It seems very straightforward, but my brain is convinced there's something major I've prob forgotten... just quickly, whilst I remember... with regard to a seat... what are people's opinions of the foam and bin bag solution? are they easy to sort out?

many (excited and nervous) regards,

Robert

Not just fuel, make sure all the water pipes are secure and any joints are tight. Check all fluid levels. Check tyre pressures. Finally as has already been said check your nuts!

Just a short slow first run and then check for leaks etc. Most importantly enjoy it!

I know how you feel. As a lot of members know I had my first drive last season. It was brilliant. Gently does it. Enjoy! You say you are taking Teme Valley's finest with you, does that mean a coach load on the "Yarra Chara" or does it open a can of worms to find out who is "TEME VALLEY'S FINEST".

Perhaps the head gardener is branching out ( note the subtle play on words there )

And for advice - dont drive on a full bladder.

Two pack foam and a bin bag is an easy and quick method to make a single-seater seat, many people use it.
'Old hard tyres' on a single seater in cold temperatures will be like driving on ice, take care and don't think your handling is necessarily crap!
