Finished fiddling about with the wishbone shields so thought I'd make a start on the floor. Not sure exactly how to approach this so thought I'd start with an "approximate" extension to the existing floor. If it works then make a full floor. Steps 1 - make the rought buck out of mdf.

Anyone know what is the best thing to seal the MDF with prior to painting, and prep?

mdf primer is very good at sealing mdf especially along the edges. 2 or 3 coats with a light rub down between coats. International make it as do several other companies. B&Q and other paint supply places will stock it.

It's very thin but adheres and seals very well. You can then put other finishes on top of it to get a glossy or semi matt finish prior to your release agent.

Edges rounded with filler then all sealed with MDF primer and then a coat of high build primer. Couple of coats of clear lacquer on top should do the trick then ready to take a test moulding.

Looking good Clive all you need now is some warm dry weather to do the fibreglassing, which is what I'm still waiting for(or that's my excuse for not having my diffuser made yet)
Nice to meet you at the show like you say it's good to put faces to names when we've communicated for so long on here. Hope to see you at Harewood this season and with luck I'll be down for a go at Loton.

Richard

I am going to make a large undertray and diffuser on the jedi and wondered where is the best place to buy the fibreglassing materials to do it? iam a way off that as need to make the mdf mould first tho! Just planning ahead Sorry if this has been mentioned earlier in this thread.

Cheers

Nick
