Pilbeam MP88/Cosworth (Twin Turbo (The story so far))

This is a challenge way beyond any thing I have been involved in before, I know many of you out there will say Turbo`s on a hill dont work (LAG), well that in its self is the challenge, over the coming months I/we will be posting up our highs and lows, no doubt more lows than high to start with, but this is why we all flock to the hills, LOL.

Chassis.....Pilbeam MP88
Engine......DH Cosworth 2.65ltr V8, (Ex Paul Tracy Indi Car)
ECU.........Pectal 06, (still awaiting comfirmation as wich dash number)
Fuel.........Bio (Methonal)
Driver.......John (Mad Dog) Jones
Crew........Phill & my self John

Our objective is to get the car up the hill and back safe so we can tick off another box, we are not going to set the world alight, but sure as hell going to be having FUN.

A big thanks to john and phil for putting there faith in me, and my wife who puts up with me talking clingon when I return home from a w/e end away.

More to follow soon

John

Well Willem used to wheelie it off the line at times, so it must be pretty torquey to do that. For sure it's a beast, and if you ever get it on a dyno I'd love to know what power you're getting. But I fully agree with you - it's the type of car that we flock to the hills to see.

I think you're mad as a box of frogs, but my hat is off to you.

I heard the engine being warmed up at Prescott last month and it was one of the sweetest revving engines I have ever heard - superb noise!

God forbid I ever have enough money, but a race car with a car engine. Lovely.

If you can stop it pissing fuel out under boost like it was at Prescott then I'll be much happier to stand near it again!

It's a great car with tons of potential but it seems to be crying out for a day or two of shakedown testing to put it up there with the usual V8 crowd.

Just like the old white car, it's a great spectacle to watch and that'll only get better as it gets quicker. Will be watching its progress with interest.

Testing is always going to be an issue due to our work constraints, so the bulk will be done on the hills during race w/e`s.

Fueling issue we belive now sorted, will endevour to get some pic`s up this w/e.

The turbos in Australia

For a short time the mp88 of tom donovon was turboed.. this had a millington in it .... very fast this held the record at bathurst esses.. till Tim Edmondson blew the record away in the GR55b last month, A 89 Dallara is now being installed with a twin turbo Alfa v6 here in Victoria I also believe that Gary west who now owns the pillbeam less millington is also going turbo.. All these will be exciting cars to watch in the future...

I thought it was sorted out by Cosworth a year or so ago?

It certainly ran well the last time Willem drove it.
