I think most of your problems lie in the fact that you are running methanol. Is a switch to petrol worth considering?
If my memory serves me wright, the engine was designed to run on methonal, (no doubt some one will prove me wrong) How I would love a Judd with Motec 800, LOL

A few hours today spent repairing and tidying up the front wing, as the lads at work were unable to get it into the workshop, but at least they gave me the materials to do the job, (thanks lads, owe you a beer).

A few pics of the damage, fortunately the wing had only become disbonded and the end former was not beyond repair, which ment even I could carry this repair out.

With the aid of the speed tape, the repair was carried out to the end former and trailing edge of the lower wing.

The vortex/air flow generator below the wing was only trimed to to the fact we have no material available at this time, one good thing to come out of having to effect these repairs is we now know who manufactured the wing, even down to pattern number, serial number and date of manufacture, so carbonconcepts.co.uk will be getting a e-mail from me soonest.

The airflow director was repostioned to its correct settings on the right hand side, (not sure why it had been moved)

Not the tidiest looking wing on the hills, but at least all the vanes left & right are now in the same positions

John

Having spent the last few days going over what changes we have made to the car i keep coming back to the time when 3rd gear failed, and then the i have since found out that Cosworth/Pectal uses a No lift to Shift technology with in the ecu to help over come turbo lag, below is a extract from a gentelman in the states,

" The no lift to shift is very useful as well. A potentiometer on the transmission tells the ECU the position of the shift drum. There is also a switch on the shift linkage that tells the ECU when the driver is selecting the next higher gear. When that selection is made, the ECU kills the engine until it sees the shift drum approaching full engagement for the next gear. The system takes a little tweaking for driver and gear ratios but, when right, works very well to protect up shift dog rings. I now replace gears for wear on the tooth face and not because I have destroyed the engagement dogs. However, there is still and opportunity to tear up the downshift side of the dog as there is no help from the ECU for this function. Lastly, that pesky switch in the shift linkage is VERY sensitive. Do not get near the lever until you are ready to use it or you'll get a nasty little hesitation that makes you think you just lost your motor. When you do pull, pull hard and sure and the same way each time. If you are consistent, the box will work flawlessly."

All be it this system was designed to be used with a sequential gearbox, it may well be that the ecu has been programed to run with the present setup, belive the problem came to light when/after the 3rd gear failed at the beging of the season, (the problem only happens when he selects 3rd gear)The one w/e I was unable to be there due to commitments else where)) you dont have to be a engineer with this car, just Sherlok Holmes, LOL, so even more detective work is need, in the mean time we (me/Phil) are off to Pride Race Engines to have a couple of things checked out.

Thanks for watching, will update our findings asap.

Regards,

John

Hi John,

How are things looking for Shelsley? I will be travelling from Malta that weekend to come over and see what all you guys get up to at Shelsley on your weekends!

Good luck with the car and looking forward to meeting you.

Cheers,

Josh.

The Car doesn't use a flat shift gear cut system.
The ecu may have the capability but its not enabled as there was no sensor on the car, so you need to dip the clutch and come off the power to change.
