I think everyone would have liked to see this car running properly but as 2010 draws to a close I may well be time to reflect where the project is going.

IMHO as a project it may well have issues that are inherited and with all the enthusiasm, effort and goodwill in the world aren't going to get sorted without the involvement of someone like cosworth and that I would suspect is going to beyond the budget you have to work with.

Sadly even if the budget is there how successful will it be? Traditionally Turbo cars have not faired well on the hills.

I think everyone should take their hats of to you for the effort you have put in but it may be best to head down the road of a normally aspirated motor and enjoy 2011.

I am still as puzzled as every one else regarding the fuelling problems with this car. As Paul says, this car ran to 800 bhp with the original fuel set up, so why is it now not working. Some one seems to have missed something very important and the current attempts at curing it are obvious to all who are reading this thread. It would be so nice to go to Uphill Racers and read something positive about this engine, sadly it seems that only one person is interested it sorting it.....

I think that Traditionally Turbo cars on the hills have done very well . Nick Mann and several Audi drivers will confirm this .

Nick Manns car isn't strictly a turbo and I meant single seater rather than saloon cars.

So much potential, and past achievements

Wallace's 2.65 is going very, very well.
But, at the sharp end you need a 3.5l full fat Gould.

Willem and the car did take championship wins, track records and a 2nd place in the championship.

This is an experiment to get 3.5 NME/Gould performance at a lower cost.

I am sure that John is trying everything from a scratch upwards point of view, minor improvements, solutions and knowledge al the way.

Willem is a very focused individual, his new role at RML takes 180% of his time, a new satellite PC gets 1% , the hill climb car probably another 3%, Sue and his beaming enthusiasm the remaining 116%.

I want to see and 850BHP Pilbeam verses a full fat Gould.

It was not a lack of power that it demonstrated in it's 1st outing at Loton several years ago. I have the onboard somewhere.

Richard
(Opinions are my own).

SUPERB CHASSIS AND GOOD LUCK

When I had the pleasure of driving the car with Willem in its Judd powered days the car was fantastic and beautiful to drive. It was however tail heavy and most was due to carry over wing from previous Pilbeam. With lighter weight I am sure the Chassis with a N/A Engine like Wallaces would be more than up to challenging the establishment ( Especially with Willem back!!) and bring lots of success without stress!

I remember looking at our overlays and his throttle spikes were vertical all or nothing and him saying 'You must try harder Ben' His talent was awesome and as you mentioned his Enthusiasm and dedication has stook in my mind forever. So glad that you have him onboard with the project John and see him driving again.

Apologies if this has been covered already but instead of condisering using multiple "weedy" pumps like 044's, why not get something like this http://aeromotiveinc.com/products-pa...ies-fuel-pump/
with corresponding pressure regulator. This systems are designed to supply extremely higher powered drag cars and i would imagine be more than able to handle to flow requirements as mentioned on this thread.

or even this from the same people it increases flow rates with revs http://aeromotiveinc.com/products-pa...ive-fuel-pump/

though squeezing it in may be tricky though has the engine got provision for an alternator? could utilise that?
