Yes but surely Cosworth could sort that out as they know the engine and it's fueling needs etc....

It might cost a few quid in the short term but all the lost time spent in paddocks and all the runs that really amount to nothing would be eliminated ....

After all.......They built it in the first place so they know how it should be set up.....

Fortunately for you Darren you built the car, know what has gone into it and know where to start looking if a problem crops up. Poor old John has inherited some one else's pile of rubbish and hasn't a clue as to what is or was in the car to start with. I am interested to know what fuel has been used and what caused the anti splash anti explosion blocks to disintegrate and cause some of the blockages. Not some of this exotic race fuel or Methanol was it....

The car runs on Methanol and is supposed to be drained after every meeting and filled/run on petrol to stop any corrosion, This was standard practice at cosworth with the indy engines.

Those with experience of TVO tractors should have no problem with that concept.

If you have ever seen the damage caused by leaving methanol in fuel lines, carbs injectors etc then you would certainly flush every time.

This was the reason I asked Dave. One of our number used to religously drain everything down after a meeting to stop the Methanol destroying his carbs and pipework. I didnt realise that it attacked to anti-explosion blocks in the tank as well.

Two main reasons for draining down a TVO engine, one the crap that it left in the carb and two, unless you ran it on petrol before shutdown you couldn't start the bloody thing without completely purging the system, and remember the old Standard Fordson didn't have a starter motor only a cranking handle. For those who dont know what a cranking handle is, please enquire.

Well that sort of proves my point (I think)

Cosworth are the ones to set the engine and fuel system up and then it should be left alone

Except that this engine isn't a Cosworth XD in Indy car spec. And if it were I think the 'official' people to sort it would be Ed Pink Racing Engines, who aren't just down the road in Northampton.
