Porsche Boxster Hillclimb Project

I concluded a Porsche 914-6 hillclimb car build a couple years ago. The car proved to be fast and enjoyable. I'm now starting a lightweight Porsche Boxster hillclimb car with my 1999 2.5 liter Boxster.

I'm working with local race car fabricator in Northern California to build very lightweight Boxster for under 2.5 liter super production class. This class allows me to make almost unlimited modifications to the car.

Our plan is to take windshield and support frame off, remove dash and replace with an aluminum plate that will hold the gauge cluster then build a lightweight roll cage. Our target weight is 925 kgs.

The current modifications include carbon fiber deck lids, lightweight flywheel, stripped interior, 15x7 Porsche 944 wheels with cantilever race slicks, KW Coilovers, Porsche GT3 control arms and swaybar, Recaro Profil race seat, momo steering wheel, hawk racing brake pads, headers, and race exhaust system, Guard LSD with 60/40 setup,

Here is the car prior to final modification project.

Little video of the boxster at an autocross event in Monterey California area.

I have named this car the "Phat Ba$tard"

Simon Butterworth from Porsch-Apart has run a Boxster very successfully for several years now in the Porsche Club Speed Championship.

My car prior to these modifications set SCCA GT3 class record in a California hillclimb this past year. It was just as fast as my 914-6 GT from previous year.

Here is the car prior to its major surgery.

I'll make sure not to drive in any coal mines. For me nothing beats open car experience. I feel much more involved in an open cockpit. Then there is practical point in the fact that I'm over 6'5' tall with my helmet on.
