Problem loading pictures on any web site:

I've loaded pics for years now with no probs until the last two weeks. I've changed nothing on my pc.
My routine is to take a still pic by Fuji camera, upload via Tinypic and from there to a web page. Boring and always works.

No i seem to get the picture loading ok but on the post is appears as a white small square with a red cross in it at the top left hand corner. If you right click on the cross, select 'show picture' then it will appear sometimes taking about 10 secs to load so you can see it.
I add that this does not ALWAYS happen, sometimes the pic loads normally!.
I always re-size my pics to 'Large web page'

Why has this happened and how can I get back to the picture loading ready to view on the thread?

Thanks in advance!

Let's see if it happens now...and typically it does not!

Graham.

Age old one this Graham and I have seen time and again. The fact that the problem is intermittent points to the picture hosting service, which are generally free, just not having enough resources to display your IMG tagged pictures when you want them. The fact that it leaves the little box with the red cross there shows it knows that there should be an image but the path is not there.

Hosted images are the bane of any forum admins life as they have no control other them and if the hosting company or the original poster remove them for any reason it then leaves a pointless hole in the thread and no relevant image.

Is there a preferred "hosting compnay" for Uphill Racers?

Yes, its called attaching a picture.

We aren't keen on online image hosts for the reasons outlined above, many are free using limits such as image size and quantity for the free users in a bid to entice them into renting some space and/or make their income from advertising and links.

Thanks for the feed-back. It tallies with another comment from another web site i use a lot. They said the Tinypic resources were getting stretched with my 'content' (!)
So: what can i do about it? Not sure how to attach a pic without a system such as Tinypic/Photobucket etc

Well...that is what I've always done, 'Post reply' for when i know a pic will be posed with the text, like this post now.
Here is a pic loaded as per my routine. I think I need to ask Tinypic what to do.

< edited: it came up instantly!>

Once in the Advanced reply box there is a whole host of tools for enhancing and adding to posts. The attachments icon is the one with a paper clip
